Great Discovery

So this morning I was being a dutiful wife and mowing the lawn. While doing so I came to the realization of why I have not fully mastered child rearing AND House wife duties since becoming a stay at home mom. Up until this time I have thought of myself as the nanny. Therefore, when Frances was sleeping or entertained by a movies I felt entitled to play on the computer, read, or sneak into the kitchen to eat something sinful. It dawned on me this morning that as the "Homemaker" I am supposed to use that time to get my "work" done so that I can then entertain my spouse in the evening (or entertain the child so the spouse can rest). Silly me!

I thought I would share this new thought with all my other friends that stay home. I wonder what my husband would think about this? :)

Um...not sure how I feel about this one. I don't feel that being a stay-at-home Mom entitles me to ALL the work at home. If you were to hire a nanny, you would pay her to care for the children, not keep house, prepare meals and manage the lawn. If I'm going to give up my job to be a full-time Mom, it's to be a full-time Mom, not wear all the hats. How much time does the average cubicle drone spend on the Internet? Is it so awful for you to take a few treasured moments during nap time to savor for yourself?

This post has been very thought-provoking to me, Kristi! Some days I feel like I am entitled to use nap time for "mommy endulgance" and other days I feel obligated to clean house, etc. Maybe as long as everyday isn't a lazy day it works out in the end? :-)
